Making stock market predictions can take many forms. There are many successful ways to accomplish this difficult task.

Technical Analysis

The use of technical analysis in conjunction with some stock market software is probably  the most common and well tested method for stock market predictions. Technical analysis takes many forms, but boils down to the reading and interpretation of stock charts. Through various indicators such as put/call ratio and stochastic, a stock price can be predicted with a good rate of success!

Stock Market Software

The use of Stock market software has really come into its own over the past several years. With the advances in computer technology, the software has become quite adept at stock market predictions. The price point of the available stock software can very from the free level up to several if not tens of thousand of dollars. For the average trader, there are many reasonably priced stock market predictions softwares available which will do a fine job.

Fundamental Analysis

The use of fundamental analysis to predict stock prices is probably made most well known by the billionaire Warren Buffet. I am sure most of you have heard of the famous trader. Fundamental analysis is basically using your common sense as well as the current business cycle to buy good stock when they are out of favor. My first stock I bout was in this manner when I bought Chrysler for $3 back in the Lee Iacocca days and watch it turn into a $30 dollar stock in several years. I have since used the same principle with Mcdonalds and Waste management. I will say however that the majority of my trades come to me by screening my trades with software and then using some common sense to make a final stock market prediction.

Following Company Insiders

Following what company CEOs and VPs do with there own stock is another form to predict where a various stock is going. Their are various services out there which will tell you for a modest fee if company insiders are buying or selling stock. I my self have never used this too much, but it can be used to predict a stocks behavior with great accuracy. If the company CEO suddenly buys 200,000 shares of his stock it can be a very bullish sign.

Conclusion

While I use stock screener software along with technical analysis and some common sense to pick stocks, the path you choose is up to you. Stock market predictions can be a very elusive thing if not done carefully.
